Caleb MacPhee from St. Andrews, running in the U19 category, was the top local with an impressive 4th place finish in the 47 th annual St. Andrews Father’s Day road race. He clocked the five mile course in a 28:23 and bested his 2024 race time of 29:20.
Caleb ran for the Mt. Allison cross country team during the 2024/2025 academic year and finished fourth at the Atlantic Canadian Athletic Association (ACAA) championships. In addition, Caleb was named to the ACAA all-conference team.
Evan Arsenault posted the fastest time with a 27:20 clocking. Suzanne Myers from Moncton was the first female across the line with a 32:48 pace.
Local running guru, Verne Cunningham, explains the odd five mile race distance is a pre-metric running standard that was used when the run started in 1978. Local running legend, Brian DIxon plotted the race course with the car odometer and set the start/finish line at the Kiwanis campground to honour the Kiwanis Club for sponsoring the race. Forty seven years later, the tradition continues.
134 participants crossed the finish line with 46 of those individuals having roots here in Southwest New Brunswick.
Congratulations to all the road racers. It’s fantastic to see runners.from across a wide age and skill range come together in this event. The top three finishers, top female and all local finishers results can be found below:
