swnbsports.life is all about showcasing the athletes and personalities that make up the sporting scene in Southwest New Brunswick. Look for our monthly feature articles on athletes and local legends. Our “For the Love of the Game” monthly article will focus on the unique challenges and hurdles local athletes and teams face in playing sports in Southwest New Brunswick.

Mark Stewart, our primary reporter, has been immersed in sport since his elementary school days. Throughout his life Mark has played hockey, baseball, basketball, cross country, rugby. soccer, squash, team handball, track and field and volleyball. For some reason, pickleball and I have not made an acquaintance yet (I was holding out thinking it was a fad, but its here to stay). I believe the Olympics is a reason to shut down life for two week and revel in sports. Stories like “Eddie the Eagle” and “Raygun”, the Australian break dancer, where an athlete finds a way to taste the Olympic dream fascinate me.

Mark is an avid sports fan who actively follows the Raptors, Blue Jays and the Canadian national basketball, swimming and rugby teams. I have switched my soccer allegiance to Wrexham, because the story of the club’s rise is just too good of a fairy tale to ignore.

Remember, Sport is Life.
